Ingredients:
1 cup (240 ml) soy sauce
1/3 cup (75 ml) black vinegar
1 Tbsp oyster sauce
1/2 tsp sugar
1 star anise pod
1/2 tsp Sichuan peppercorns
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp fennel seeds
1 1/2″ piece fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
Dash of white pepper powder
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients together with 1/4 cup water and stir to combine. Bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, turn heat down to a low boil and cook for 2 minutes. Turn off heat and cover the pot, letting sit for 10 minutes.
Strain sauce and use immedietely or cool for up to 3 days.
