1 28oz can whole peeled tomatoes
1 small onion, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
3-4 basil leaves
1 tsp dried oregano
salt, pepper to taste
pinch of sugar
2 tbsp olive oil
Empty tomatoes into a mixing bowl and crush.
Heat up olive oil in a medium saucepan on medium heat. Add the onions and saute until translucent. Add garlic and cook and stir until golden. Add tomatoes and stir in salt, pepper, oregano, and basil. Add sugar if desired.
Simmer on low for at least 15 minutes. Let cool.
